I am a classically trained violinist and folk musician. Born and raised in Maine, I grew up as a member of the Newell Family Band, and was constantly surrounded by both folk music and classical music. I began studying violin at the age of 3, and I've never stopped!
Growing up at Maine Fiddle Camp in the summers, I now teach fiddle there along with my mother, father, and sister. I've has performed all over New England as a professional musician. Some notable experiences were as a soloist with the Seacoast Community Orchestra, and gigging as a professional musician in orchestras and small groups, including in several musicals, notably "Big River" in the summer of 2019. I'm a member of the contra dance band Volution, which plays folk music for traditional contra dances.
In high school, I participated in many orchestras, notably the New England Conservatory Prep School's Youth Symphony, Colby College Orchestra, Mozart Mentors Orchestra, and the Maine Allstate Orchestra. I also was lucky to be selected to play jazz violin in the Maine Jazz Allstate Combo. After high school, I spent one year at Ithaca College studying with Calvin Wiersma. I am now studying with Sharan Leventhal at Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, pursuing a degree in Violin Performance.
